Gold Star Selling virtual coaching

Meet Greg:

For over 40 years Greg owned and operated his own shoe store with Browns Shoe Fit. Starting in Okmulgee, Okla from 1984-1996 he created fantastic growth in a town of 15,000 people. From 1996-2017 he took over the store in Liberal, Kansas and during that time Liberal became one of the top 10 stores in Browns organization with a population of 20,000. Then in 2017 he took over the operation of one of Browns top stores in Fort Collins, a town of 170,000 where he retired at the end of 2025.

During his time in Fort Collins, the store was recognized by Footwear Insight Magazine in their Gold Medal Service Awards 4 years from 2019-2023 for offering some of the best customer service in shoe stores located in the United States.

To say Greg has a passion for teaching customer service is an understatement. From the 1980’s, he has been a teacher and disciple of Harry Friedmans Gold Star Selling Program and now Friedman University. Teaching it to his staff and other shoe stores that have sought his help.

During the 40 years of his career Greg has come up with some unique marketing events that have helped him to grow his stores in all locations. Using direct mail and his customer database he has been able to dial down some very successful promotions both for individual branded events and clearance. His Tent Sales in Liberal were some of the biggest single days on record at the time.

Greg has also been a devoted student of leadership using the tools of great teachers like John Maxwell, Craig Grouchel, Tony Robbins, Jon Gordon, Simon Sinek and many others. Using info from these greats has helped convert 14 others to own and lead their own Browns Shoe Fit stores.


Since Greg has retired, he has been dedicated to help others with teaching old school training techniques and beliefs of customer service to the new generation of

professional shoe fitters. He also sprinkles in a layer of new information on

communication and likeability that he has learned the last few years.

You don’t have to be great to get started, but you got to get started to be great.
